As a former Philadelphia 76ers player, Henry Bibby has rejoined the NBA as an assistant coach for the Memphis Grizzlies. With over 22 years of collegiate and professional basketball playing and coaching experience, Bibby is once again in the NBA with former teammates and coaches.

Prior to joining the Grizzlies coaching staff, Bibby spent time as an Assistant Coach for the 76ers, part of the 2005 season as the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. Before the WNBA, he was the head coach of the men’s basketball team at the University of Southern California where he posted a 131-111 record over nine seasons. With USC, Bibby led the Trojans to back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2000-01 and 2001-02, and earned a trip to the Elite Eight in 2001.
Before his time at USC, Bibby had coached a club team in Venezuela in 1995. He was also a head coach for eight seasons in the Continental Basketball Association, including three years each with the Oklahoma City Cavalry (1992-94) and the Tulsa Fast Breakers (1989-91) and a year each with the Savannah Spirits (1988) and the Baltimore Lightning (1986). His teams made it into the CBA playoffs six times and posted a 223-213 regular season record, making him only the fourth CBA coach to post 200 wins. His 1989 Tulsa squad won the CBA title and he was named CBA Coach of the Year.
He also spent three summers (1986-88) head coaching in the United States Basketball League and was the 1986 USBL Coach of the Year while leading the Springfield Fame.

In 1987, he was a scout with the NBA’s Washington Bullets. He was an assistant at Arizona State for three years (1983-85).
As a player, Bibby spent nine seasons in the NBA and averaged 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in a total of 675 games. He played for the New York Knicks (1972-74, 1974-75), New Orleans Jazz (1974-75, 1975-76), the 76ers (1976-80) and the San Diego Clippers (1980-81).
As a Sixer, Bibby averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 327 games (208 starts). The Sixers reached the postseason in all four of his years in Philadelphia, including two trips to the NBA Finals in 1976-77 and 1979-80. As a rookie, Bibby was a part of a Knicks team that won the NBA title in 1973.
In college, Bibby attended UCLA where he was the starting point guard on three NCAA title teams (1970-72), earning consensus All-American honors while serving as the team’s captain as a senior in 1972. The Bruins went 87-3 during his varsity collegiate career (one of the losses was to USC in 1970), including 30-0 in 1972. He averaged 15.6 points as a sophomore, 11.8 as a junior and 15.7 as a senior.

Coach Knigin has been coaching and teaching basketball for the past 20 years. As the Head Basketball Coach at the Rolling Hills Prep School he has led his team to 4 CIF Championships and 11 League Championships in 13 years. He has also been voted Division 5 Coach of The Year 5 times in his tenure at RHP.
As well as being a successful coach In high school, Coach Knigin has also helped run many basketball programs throughout Southern California. His ability to teach and communicate with students will ensure that each and every participant will have a positive experience as well as learn to play the game the correct way. Coach Knigin has been working for the Henry Bibby Basketball Schools for the past 3 years helping to coordinate and direct programs at various locations. |
